Boundaries/Map Explorations

Garage Fire

Curiosities: old lightbulbs, boxes of strange electrical parts, boxes filled with Styrofoam packing peanuts. (My parents explained the eccentricities by reminding me that the previous owners were Canadians.)

I secretly yearned for a quirky dormer in the upper floor.

David had other uses/needs for the garage: fire in metal garbage barrel on a cold winter day

Contrast of raging fire against white snow:
  • fire V. ice
  • blazing red-orange V. bleak white
My childhood/time self-destructive?

Dad's pyromania at the grill passed on to my brother's arson

Railroad Tracks/Creek

"washed" clothes, built dams, sailed boats

Mom

Sprawled out on front lawn, dancing in sunroom, passed out upstairs...

Mom sprawled out on concrete steps leading from front of house to driveway downhill:
  • Ivy threatens to grow/slink over her onmoving body
  • I am scared...then smell urine
  • Confused friend with me (?) stands unmoving, shocked
  • I tug on an arm to awaken her from her drunken stupor
  • I have to run in and get my brother - my elementary-school arms cannot carry her alone.
